I Dare You was written in my bedroom at my parents' house, where I was staying following leaving Manchester. I suppose it was Spring, 2006, which sounds like ages ago, but doesn't really feel like it. I was attempting to be optimistic whilst writing this song - it was penned to capture a moment when it felt like anything could happen and was within our reach. I'm goading someone to do something, to get away from the mundane, so we'll be on safe ground. We weren't, and I knew that. False sun.
lyrics
You know when you're feeling tripped and losing all your self control; control's something I've forgotten, take the wheel 'cause I'm not driving anywhere without you today.
Baby when you're feeling woozy I would like to hold you steady; steady does it, it's no trouble, but I'm trouble and you like it, don't you? Let's just get out of here. Let's just get out of here and make a run run run for it, I dare you.
You know when you're feeling freaked and losing all your sense of up? Up is where the lift is moving; getting higher and improving for us, let's just get out of here.
I dare you my idea...
Baby when you're feeling good I want to make you even better. Listen to the pitter-patter - I don't draw my curtains either; So, let's just up ad go - let's just up and go go go.
